The Indiana State Department of Health published the Mortality Reports for the year 2002 in May of 2004. In this report the five leading causes of death for Indiana African American and Hispanic/Latino populations is as follows:

Accidents
Conditions associated with pregnancy and recent birth
Diabetes

Most recently available leading causes of death for Indiana American Indian/Alaska Native and Asian/Pacific Islander populations were described in the 2001 Indiana Minority Health Report, from the Office of Minority Health. The information presented was for Mortality Rates in 1999 and are as follows:
